Online Gambling in Minnesota

Online gambling has been a widely popular past time that provides many people with hours of entertainment and sometimes decent rewards. As we all know, gambling in the United States is heavily regulated by the Federal government. So the question one has to ask may include: is online gambling illegal?

The short answer is: yes.

Online gambling is illegal in the United States. To our local Minnesota peers, this includes you.

The states (MN) Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division sent a clear cut letter to a dozen or so national and regional ISP’s instructing them to block access to 200 varios gambling sites in an effort to enforce the US Laws.

The letter was sent out April 29, 2009.

It is now July 15, 2009 and to the best of my knowledge, there are still the same amount of online gambling sites, if not more now since the letter has been sent out. Althought the state of Minnesota may report the ISP’s to the FCC, how serious the punishment will be, if any, only time will tell.

For now, online gambling in Minnesota is prohbited.
